THORN SPORTS AWARDS 2019
Our Sports Awards are given to those pupils who use the School Games Values of Determination, Passion, Respect, Self-Belief, Honesty and Teamwork. We celebrate the success of pupils who display these values throughout the school year in PE, at Sports Competitions, during After School Clubs and Coaching Sessions.
Ian Jones from Rossendale Rugby Club presented the awards. He also awarded our 2 Tag Rugby Teams with a special medal each, for displaying great rugby skills and School Games Values throughout their tournaments.
Our Sports Leader of the Year Award was presented to Isobel Mc Ewan, for her commitment to her role, going above and beyond what is expected of her and displaying outstanding leadership skills.
Abriella Bingham received a Special Recognition Award from the organiser of Whitworth Sports Festival. She played with skill and School Games Values to impress Jo Furtado so much that he wrote a letter of commendation. Abriella also received a medal which was engraved with 'In the true spirit of the games'.
The final award of the day was for 'Sports Supporter of the Year' and this was presented to Mrs Stocks...of course!
