Year 1

Welcome to Year 1W

Welcome to our class, we are excited to get to know all the children and begin our exciting new year. Our class teacher is Miss Whittaker and supporting our class this year we have Miss Lord, Miss Butler, Miss Melvin and Miss Malley. Currently in our class we have 27 children.

A little bit of information about routines in our class:

Homework will be sent home on a Friday and needs to be returned by Monday. Reading books will be sent home on Friday and will be linked with your child's weekly phonics sounds. Your child will only have one book throughout the week to develop fluency in reading. These will be change the following Friday however book bags are monitored every day so please remember to bring your book bag into school every day and sign when your child has read.

We currently have PE on a Thursday afternoon and a Friday afternoon so please ensure there is a full PE kit in school.

Autumn Term

This term, we will be learning all about the 'Festival of Colour'. We will be focussing on the country 'India' and learning lots of new skills. Watch this space for more Year 1 fun!

We have been enjoying lots of different learning activities. We have learnt all about India and even joined in with some Bollywood dancing. Take a look at the photos below to see how much fun we had!

Our day learning about India and Hinduism

We also got to join in with a Colour Run! Thank you Mrs Carter and the Sport's Leaders for organising such a fun activity!

We have also been using the challenge room really well to extend our learning further. We have been exploring all about numbers in Maths - specifically making number bonds to 10 and sequencing numbers.

We have also been using the construction area to build our own castles.
