Year 2

Welcome to Year 2!

Our teacher this year is Miss Evans and we are supported by a group of helpful teaching assistants.

Helpful Information

Homework will be given out every Friday and needs to be returned the following Thursday. It will vary but it will always be based on an element which the children have focus on within that week in school.

Reading books will be sent home weekly and more information will come soon about when readers are changed. Although your child will only have one book to read, it is important it is re-read so children can get familiar with sounds and words and will stick long - term. Please ensure your child brings their book bag to school every day as this is regularly monitored by the teacher. Please also remember to sign and date the reading record if your child has read with you at home.

We currently have PE every Wednesday and Friday so please ensure your child's PE kit is in school for these days.

Brilliant Britain!

In Autumn term, the children will be learning about The Great Fire of London. Watch this space to see the amazing work the children produce!

Year 2 were lucky enough to have a Historian come to visit the school to tell us all about The Great Fire of London! The professor taught us about the causes of the fire, the impact and how lives were affected. We made a model village to show the extent of The Great Fire and even acted out the famous story from 1666!

We then played some historical games to act like we were living in 1666 and could practically understand how the Great Fire was trying to burn down Tudor houses. The children did a super job at becoming Tudor people!

To end the workshop, we took some memorable pictures of us using the historical artefacts where children again imbodied Tudor villagers.

The children absolutely loved being apart of the workshop and showed our visitor lots of kindness and respect.
