This term we are discovering Ancient Egypt. During this topic we will; explore the world and find Egypt using maps; compare Ancient Egypt to Bacup; investigate Ancient Egyptian writing (Hieroglyphics) and begin to look at the life of Tutankhamun.

We have dressed up as many different Ancient Egyptians: The Pharaoh, the soldiers, the scribe and the farmers

We have had a visit from a lady who collects Ancient Egyptian artefacts. We were able to dress up as different Egyptian people and use role play to learn about what it was like in Ancient Egypt.

We were also able to look at the many different artefacts that the lady brought in to our school. These artefacts included:

  • Bowls
  • Baskets
  • Jewellery
  • statues

At the start of this half term we have been outside learning within our forest school. Our theme was pirates, the activities we did allowed us to work on certain skills; team work, trust and building confidence. We have undertaken a range of activities from tug of war to scavenger hunts. All of these activities led to a treasure hunt. Here are some pictures:
In our Ancient Egyptian topic, we have started to look at what the Egyptians would wear. We have focused on jewellery and created our own out of clay.
