Y3/4 ATHLETICS REPORT BY MAISIE RACE & MEGAN JAMIESON

Two of our amazing Sports Leaders have supported the younger pupils in Athletics. Here's their very own report from the Y3/4 Athletics Competition.

Our Y3/4 Athletics Team of 18 attended the Rossendale Athletics Competition at the Valley Leadership Academy, against Haslingden Primary. This competition included running, throwing and jumping events. Our team was led by Sports Leaders, Megan Jamieson and Maisie Race. Unfortunately, two of our team members couldn't make it so Jonah stepped in for Alfie and Lily stepped in for Abbey.

We started with a practice run of the Obstacle Relay... it was very loud! Then we did the actual Obstacle Relay. Again, it was loud and exciting! Even though we were a bit slower than Haslingden, we still enjoyed this event.

When the children ran in the 1 Lap, 2 Lap and 6 Lap races, we were amazed at the changeovers these children accomplished!

All of our team members showed great effort but we spotted some outstanding actions - Leo's mouth widening javelin throw and Cornelia's almost effortless (but still outstanding) Triple Jump.

Overall, we came 2nd to Haslingden but won the School Games Values Award. Although we may not have won the competition overall, we won individual events like the Boys' 6 Lap, the Girls' 1 Lap and the Boys' 4x1 Lap Relay.

Though all members of our team showed great behaviour, we decided that the best behaved boy was Harry Huggett and the best behaved girl was Cornelia Rojek.

Well done team!

The pictures below show how much fun our Athletics Team had.
