Welcome to Year 4!
Our lovely Year 4s are a smiley, friendly class who are taught by Mrs Wood and supported by a range of TA's.
Children are responsible for their own belongings and are expected to bring their book bag to school every day. Children will bring home their reading books and bring them back the next day. They are expected to read for about 10 minutes each evening. Don't forget to fill in their reading record so they can get their team reading token each week. The children choose their own book from our exciting range of books in the book corner, including some brand new books. There are also some 'Mrs Wood recommends' books linked to our class learning.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, children will bring home their spelling journal to practice their spellings. They will have a task inside to complete or they can choose a strategy which best helps them to learn their spellings . At the front of their spelling journal is a 'spelling menu' that lists the words they will be learning each week. There are many ways to help your child with their spellings including: rainbow writing; look, write, cover, check; mnemonics; flashcards and games.
PE is on a Monday and Wednesday and children are expected to have a full kit which is left in school.
On a Wednesday children will be able to attend homework club where they will either complete an English or Maths activity. Homework will get sent home every Friday and is expected to be completed and handed in by the following Thursday. When it is a maths week, children will need to use their deepening and understanding log in to access their homework online.
We are all looking forward to a fun filled year!!

What a fantastic week we have had celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee! We created our own commemorative plate with the Queen's head and the Union Jack. We did a whole class timeline which we then had to answer questions about to earn table points! On Wednesday afternoon, we watched year 6 perform the coronation. We all got to join in with singing the National Anthem. On Friday, we all enjoyed a delicious picnic in the Gym. Here are some photos that we would like to share.
Police Visit!
The children had a visit from Vinnie and Lyndsey who keep us safe around Bacup. They talked to the children about the importance of coming to school and different crimes that people commit. The children then enjoyed trying on the different types of helmets that the police wear for different crimes. They asked lots of interesting questions and showed great enthusiasm.
