Welcome to our class, we're excited to get to know all the children and begin our exciting topics. Our class teacher is Mrs Johnson and  Supporting our class this year we have Mrs Holden and Miss Stokes. Currently in our class we have 24 children.

A little bit of information about routines in our class:

Spellings go home on a Monday and are to be returned by Friday, these will be tested Friday afternoon. Homework will be sent home a Wednesday and needs to be returned by Monday. Book bags are monitored every Monday, Wednesday and Friday so please make sure you are reading regularly and remembering to bring your book bag into school. Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday so please ensure there is a full PE kit in school.

Home Learning: week beginning 13th July 2020

Here is the home learning for the week commencing 13th July.
This will be the final homework sent! However, it would obviously be a good idea to keep practising reading, writing coherent sentences, in best handwriting and basic maths such as multiplication tables and problem solving in readiness for Year 3.

It has been a pleasure to have all the Year 2 children in my class, even if it was cut abruptly short. I will certainly miss them all and wish them every success as they move in to their new classes.
After several unusual and sometimes challenging weeks, I hope that you all have super summer and that the sun will shine.
With my very best wishes,

Mrs Johnson

Other reading activity ideas:

Writing

This week our theme is Julia Donaldson characters!  I know when we have shared Julia Donaldson books previously in class we have always enjoyed them.

In class we have done lots of work during our grammar sessions on noun phrases, Julia Donaldson uses lots of noun phrases to describe her characters, e.g. big bad mouse; terrible whiskers; purple prickles all over his back; poisonous wart at the end of his nose.  Keep a look out for them!  I think you’ll have the opportunity to use them in your own writing too.

Don’t forget to rehearse your sentences out loud, just like we do in class.  Perhaps you could use your pen as a microphone!

If you’d prefer to write about another Julia Donaldson character – perhaps in a book you have at home – that’s fine.  I look forward to hearing about them.

I’ll attach ideas for activities you could complete.

Daily Writing Activities

See the word document below for some daily ideas for activities. I have also added other documents you may find useful.

BBC iPlayer and the Red Button service will host Bitesize Daily. These are six different 20 minute shows, each designed to target a specific age group, from ages five to 14, and for pupils throughout the UK. Experts and teachers will be involved, covering what should be learned that day for the different year groups and key stages. Maths, Science and English will be covered in dedicated programmes, and other subjects such as History, Geography, Music and Art will also be covered.

PE

Try to keep yourselves active at home. Maybe join Joe Wick's exercise sessions each morning, I will be doing these from home too!
