Welcome to Year 1/2

Our teacher is Miss Whiteman who is new to our school.  We are also supported most mornings in class by Mrs Lee.

At other times in the week Mrs Harris, Mrs Halshaw, Miss Lord and Miss Greenwood work with us.

Our PE day is Thursday, swimming day is Wednesday please make sure you have a full kit.

Homework is given out each Friday to be completed by Wednesday.

1/2W have had a fantastic start to their new class! 

We have been learning about fruit and vegetables as part of our Autumn 1 topic.  As part of this topic, we found out why it is important to have our “Five a day”. 

We were lucky enough to have visitors to our class from Morrisons, Bacup.  They talked to us about the different fruits and vegetables that are available from shops and supermarkets.  We loved tasting different fruits and vegetables….. Mmmm!  Before leaving, three prizes were given to the children who tried the most fruit and vegetables.  We were presented with a special Halloween gift from Morrisons – a pumpkin!

In Literacy, we looked at the story ‘Oliver’s vegetables’.  We used role-play to act out the story.  We also created work in Art to show the different vegetables in the story. 

In Numeracy, we have been practising counting, adding and subtracting.  We have also looked at solving money problems. 

Reminder – Please return books to be changed each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Please ensure that your child’s reading record is signed so that their book can be changed.
