Year 4

Welcome to Year 4!

Hello and welcome to 4B! Our class is made up of 30 lovely children taught by me, Miss Burton. To lend us a helping hand we have Mrs Davey and Mrs Holden!

Children are responsible for their own belongings and are expected to bring their book bag to school every day. Children will bring home their reading books and bring them back the next day. They are expected to read for about 10 minutes each evening. Don't forget to fill in their reading record so they can get their team reading token each week. The children choose their own book from our exciting range of books in the book corner. There are also some 'Miss Burton recommends' books linked to our class learning.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, children will bring home their spelling journal to practice their spellings. They will have a task inside to complete or they can choose a strategy which best helps them to learn their spellings . At the front of their spelling journal is a 'spelling menu' that lists the words they will be learning each week.

PE is on a Monday and Thursday and children are expected to have a full kit which is left in school.

On a Tuesday children will be able to attend homework club where they will either complete an English or Maths activity. Homework will get sent home every Friday and is expected to be completed and handed in by the following Thursday morning. When it is a maths week, children will need to log on to their times table rock stars and race to the top of the leader board!

We are all looking forward to a fun filled year!!

Autumn Term

Brilliant Britain

This term our theme is Brilliant Britain. We will be learning about the Anglo Saxons.

Watch this space to see everything we get up to!

Outdoor Learning Day! In our History lessons, we have been learning about the Anglo Saxons. We created a house for an Anglo Saxson to live in out of twigs, tyres and wood. We worked together as a team to gather our ideas and collect resources we needed.

Anglo Saxons visitor - We learnt all about the different kingdoms and how they invaded Britain settling in the different areas. We got to look at and investigate different artefacts and learn what the Anglo Saxons used them for. We had great fun and learnt lots of new vocabulary!
