Welcome to Class 3J.
Year 3 is taught by Mrs Johnson and is supported by Mrs Harris, Mrs Holden and Miss Harding. We are so excited to welcome your children to our class and begin our new work this year. This is an exciting time as your child, who will be in KS2 for the first time. Some children may find the new routines a bit daunting, but we will be there to guide them through all these changes.
Here is some key information which may help with the transition and provides further information about our weekly routines.
Physical Education:
Monday and Wednesday
The children will need their full kit for all of their PE lessons. Any child who has pierced ears will either need to remove these or they will need to bring plasters into school.
Reading:
Children are expected to bring their book and reading record to school everyday. All children have been assigned an author and their reading diaries will be monitored once every week (a sticker on the front of their reading diary will remind them which is their day to be checked). If staff can see that children are reading regularly and are signing their book, showing what page they are up to, then they will achieve a team point for their whole school author group. At the end of the term, the author group with the most tokens wins a prize!
Spellings:
As a class we practice our spellings daily, this helps to build our reading and writing skills. On a Tuesday and Thursday the children will come home with an activity in their spelling journals, this will help to reinforce any learning we have done that day. This book needs to be returned the next day with their activity completed. There spelling journal also has a spelling menu which shows the words we are practicing each week, it also has some additional activities you may want to complete with your child.
Homework:
Homework will be given out on Friday and will be due to be handed in the following Thursday.
Children can attend homework club on Wednesdays if this will help with them completing their tasks.
