Welcome to our class, we are excited to get to know all the children and begin our exciting new year. Our class teacher is Miss Whittaker and supporting our class this year we have Mrs Halshaw, Mrs Proctor, Miss Lord, Miss Butler, Miss Stoaks and Mrs Holden. Currently in our class we have 27 children.
A little bit of information about routines in our class:
Homework will be sent home on a Friday and needs to be returned by Monday. Book bags are monitored every Monday and Thursday so please make sure you are reading regularly and remembering to bring your book bag into school every day. Spellings will be sent home on a Monday and need to be returned on a Friday, ready for a quick spelling test on a Friday afternoon. We currently have PE on a Wednesday morning so please ensure there is a full PE kit in school.
Year 1 have had a fantastic day celebrating Autumn. We have learnt about how harvest is celebrated in Italy.
We learnt that olives and sun-dried tomatoes are very important crops in Italy and we even tried some ourselves. The class decided the sun-dried tomatoes were their favourite. So we made an Italian Pizza each - topped with some beautiful faces using tomato sauce, cheese, peppers, pepperoni and olives. We also planted some tulip bulbs in the raised beds, hopefully we will see them next time we go up. We also made some fantastic Autumn wreaths and apple printing pumpkins!

All the packs have now been delivered! It was lovely to see your smiley faces!
Inside the packs, you will find lessons for Literacy, Numeracy and Phonics alongside some additional resources to support your learning. I will also be adding activities to Purple Mash every Monday! Well done to all those children who have already accessed this - it is so lovely to see all your work!
I have also included the learning on this class page to support you in accessing the hyperlinks or should you need an additional copy.
If you have any question or need any further support, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
Literacy:
There’s a new hero in town: Supertato! It’s night-time in the supermarket and all is quiet and still. But wait. Something has escaped from the freezer. Something with plans. Evil plans. This little escapee (or escapea?) wants to cause chaos. Its targets: the fresh vegetables. Never fear, though – Supertato is here! Can he solve these despicable crimes and save the vegetables from a terrible fate? He’ll definitely have to draw on all his superpowers if he’s going to outwit this little green foe.
Numeracy
This week in Numeracy we will be learning about number including the place value, more and less than a number and counting in 10's. Make sure you use the apparatus we have provided in your pack.
Phonics Home Learning Plan
Use the group number, you've been given in your home learning pack, to follow the links to YouTube for your phonics lessons this week.
