Hi Everybody

Mrs Boulton and Miss Hoey xx
Hi everybody! We are ready to go with our home learning and can't wait to get started with you! You have all been emailed a zoom link to use from Monday 11th January for you to log into your daily zoom Maths and English lessons along with the rest of the children who are here at school. It is important that children attend ALL of their zoom lessons so that we can try to limit the amount of missed learning. Before your first zoom lesson, it would be really helpful to prepare yourself with the lesson equipment that you may need (paper, pen, pencil, rubber and a ruler).

As well as this, you have been set a daily reading task on purple mash (there are copies of your logins in the office if you have misplaced them).
To help you to practise and revise your spellings, we have uploaded our usual spelling PowerPoints below to help you practise your skills. We have also uploaded the list of this terms spellings below. Pick a few a week to work on and choose from your strategy bank to help you learn them (rainbow write, pyramid write, draw around the word, choo choo, quick write etc).
Welcome to Year 6!
Year 6 will be taught by Mrs Boulton and Miss Hoey who will be supported by our helpful teaching assistants, Mrs Barry, Mrs Neil and Mrs Smithies .
Our PE sessions will be carried out on Tuesdays and children will be expected to have a full school PE kit available each week as part of their school uniform.
Homework folders will be sent home on a Friday and will contain maths homework and a writing/grammar task. Homework folders should be returned by Tuesday. Spellings will be practised throughout the week.
Homework club is on Monday at 3.15pm. If you want to join, see Mrs Davey.
It is vital that children are encouraged to complete and return their homework on time in order to prepare them for their transition and the increased workload at high school next year. In addition to this, encouraging your child to read at home will benefit them massively as this year we will be working on reading for endurance and speed.
To give them a helping hand along the way, regular encouragement to read and discussing or questioning them about what they are reading would be really beneficial and much appreciated!
Well what a fun filled day we've had in Y6! Today we have learnt about how Argentina celebrate Harvest. We learnt about how they have a parade of floats and how ladies from all over Argentina come to audition to be the Harvest Queen. We had some marvellous speeches, and our vote lead to us having two Harvest Queens! We made delectable meat-based pizzas, as Argentinians are big meat lovers! We also made autumnal wreaths using a range of materials and textures. We had a great day!
